Description
In Bone Wars, step into the shoes of a 19th - century paleontologist. Back then, a fierce competition raged between Othniel Marsh and Edward Cope, two famous paleontologists. They'd do anything, like bribing workers, stealing, or even destroying bones, to discover new dinosaur species. You can work for one of these legends or go solo, aiming to beat all your rivals.
During the game, use your action cards smartly. Place them in the slots under your player board. These cards can activate your team to dig up fossils and find new species in the field, or your paleontologist to publish species, disprove other players' papers, and win awards.
Add published species cards to the bonus slots at the top of your player board. Each card gives a bonus based on how many cards are already in that slot.
When your paleontologist publishes a paper, it goes to either Marsh's or Cope's side, depending on who you're working for. Certain actions will earn you loyalty points with your patron. At the end of the game, multiply your loyalty points (with both Marsh and Cope) by the number of published papers to get victory points. Published papers matter for all players, so make them count for you!
How to play: First, understand that you're a paleontologist in the game. Try to decide if you want to work for Marsh, Cope, or on your own. During the game, make good use of your action cards. Place them in the slots under your player board. If you activate your team, they'll go out and dig for fossils in the field. If you activate your paleontologist, they'll focus on publishing species, debunking other players' work, and getting awards.
When you publish a species card, put it in the bonus slots at the top of your board. Keep an eye on how many cards are already there as it affects the bonus you'll get.
When publishing a paper, remember it goes to the side of the person you're working for. And do actions that will earn you loyalty points with your patron.
At the end of the game, multiply your loyalty points by the number of published papers to get victory points. Try to make the most of your published papers to win!
Note: Make sure to read all the rules carefully before starting the game. Don't forget to keep track of your loyalty points and published papers. And have fun competing with other players!
