Description
Welcome to Encyclopedia, an exciting dice - based worker placement board game! It's 1739, and as budding naturalists and adventurers, you're hired by the Comte de Buffon, Darwin's predecessor, to create the first natural history encyclopedia. Conduct research, organize grand expeditions, and publish studies on the world's most amazing creatures. At the start of each round, draw and roll dice, then place them on your player board. Use these dice to take actions each turn, depending on their color and value. Actions include preparing expeditions at the Embassy, raising funds at the Bank, or hiring your research team at the University. Select Animal cards to study, organize expeditions to their natural habitats. Once your research is done, publish your findings to be the top contributor to Buffon’s Encyclopedia. Every publication earns you Victory points, and at the game's end, score based on Animal collections and research. Designed by Olivier Melison and Eric Dubus, the creators of Dominations: Road to Civilization and Museum, this game adds new and interesting twists to the genre, offering multiple paths to victory. It also provides many ways to counter the randomness of dice rolls. You can spend tokens to change a die's value or color, and use other players' dice too! Taking a die from another player's board is free, but they get a bonus. With its beautifully illustrated animal cards, the game's theme blends well with its mechanics, making the rules easy to understand and allowing you to quickly come up with the perfect strategy.
