North Africa '41 is an exciting strategy game that recreates the North African campaign from Rommel's first offensive in March 1941 to December 1941. Combat units are represented by regiments, brigades, and battalions. Each half - month game turn is divided into 3 Impulses of 4 - 5 days. This game is a complete overhaul of the old design The Legend Begins, published 30 years ago by Rhino Game Company. It features a new map, updated order of battle research, and improved rules inspired by Stalingrad ’43, Holland ’44, and Salerno ’43. Some elements from the old game like map and unit scale, and certain rules remain. There are Limited and Active ZOCs, Tank shifts, Coastal Shipping between ports, Malta convoy rules, port destruction/repair, and Resource Points. Resource Points let you build or buy limited - supply assets such as air support and battleship convoy escort. The game system borrows from the WWII 19xx series, but only motorized unit ZOCs stop enemy movement. New rules like Event Tables and Rommel movement bonus add excitement. It includes three scenarios: The Campaign Game, Battle Axe, and Crusader.

During your turn, you can move your combat units, which represent regiments, brigades, and battalions. Remember, only the ZOCs of motorized units can stop enemy movement. If you want to move past non - motorized units, you'll need to pay +2 MPs to exit each ZOC. Use Resource Points to build or purchase limited - supply assets like air support and battleship convoy escort. When using the new rules such as Event Tables, be ready for unexpected events that can add excitement to the game. Keep in mind that the Rommel movement bonus can give you an edge.
