Description
In the 15th century, Portuguese Prince Henry the Navigator gathered top cartographers and navigators to explore Africa's coastline. This led to great expertise in navigation and shipbuilding, kicking off the Age of Exploration. Portugal later found sea - trade routes to India and China, and at its peak, controlled sea trade from Brazil to Japan, amassing huge wealth through a spice trade monopoly. In this game, players are wealthy trade dynasties building the Portuguese colonial empire. They follow in the footsteps of famous explorers all the way to Nagasaki, but sailing into uncharted waters is risky. Founding colonies and building factories create an economic base. However, prices of sugar, gold, and spices constantly change. Only adaptable trade dynasties can finance their big plans. Competing for new discoveries, colonies, shipyards, and churches, it's crucial to watch other players' moves. This 'Navigator' game for 2 to 5 players is a challenging strategy game with an element of luck, as no one knows what new sea regions hold. Turns are simple and played on a rondel for a smooth gaming experience.
How to play: First, gather 2 to 5 players. Each player represents a wealthy trade dynasty. On your turn, which follows simple rules and is executed on the rondel, you can choose to follow the routes of famous explorers, found colonies, or build factories. Try to adapt to the constantly changing prices of sugar, gold, and spices to finance your plans. Keep an eye on what the other players are doing as you compete for new discoveries, colonies, shipyards, and churches. Note: Since there's an element of luck when discovering new sea regions, don't be too disappointed if things don't go as planned. Also, make sure to pay attention to the market price fluctuations as they can greatly affect your strategies. Maintenance: As this is a board game, keep it in a dry place to prevent the game pieces and board from getting damaged. If the pieces get dirty, you can gently clean them with a soft, dry cloth.
