El Grande is back! After almost 30 years, Hans im Glück has fully revamped their beloved area control game, giving this long - awaited classic a new look. The changes include a complete redo of the game's artwork, cover, and pieces. The rules have been overhauled and updated with minor improvements. There's a new variant for 2, 3, and experienced 3 - player games, along with 2 new mini - expansions. Set in 15th - century Spain at the end of the Reconquista, players send their caballeros to control 9 regions and become 'El Grande'. The king's location is key, as majorities can change quickly. Players take turns based on the power card they play. Each turn, they pick 1 of 5 action cards to place caballeros on the map and perform a special action. After 3 rounds, points are earned according to regional majorities, with extra points for the majority in the current 'kingdom' and home region. After 9 rounds, a new ruler of medieval Spain emerges.

How to play: First, set up the game board representing 15th - century Spain. Each player gets their caballeros. Start taking turns according to the power card you play. On your turn, pick one of the 5 action cards. Use it to place your caballeros on the map and do a special action. After 3 rounds, check the majorities in different regions to score points, and also get extra points for majorities in the current 'kingdom' and your home region. Keep playing until 9 rounds are over to find the new ruler. Things to note: Pay close attention to the king's location as it can change the majorities quickly. Also, think carefully before choosing action cards. Maintenance advice: Keep the game pieces in a dry and clean place. If the cards get dirty, you can gently wipe them with a soft cloth.
