Description

End of Empire: 1744 - 1782 is an exciting two - player board game that brings to life the three major conflicts on the North American continent between 1744 and 1783. These include King George’s War (also known as the Old French War, part of the War of the Austrian Succession), the French and Indian War (part of the Seven Years War or the Great War for Empire in England), and the American Revolutionary War. The French and Indian War ended the French Empire in Canada, while the American Revolution ended the British Empire in the 13 American colonies. There's also a bonus scenario for the War of Jenkin's Ear between Spanish Florida and British Georgia. After publication, freely available scenarios cover Lord Dunmore's War, the Chickasaw Wars, Queen Anne's War, King William's War, along with variant starts and political situations for the three main wars. Each game turn represents two months. A year in the game has one spring turn, two summer turns, one fall turn, and two winter turns. Each hex on the map is about 20 miles across. Units are mainly regiments, with each step representing around 250 men. The game features two maps of eastern North America. Each hex or town has natural and man - made features that affect unit movement and combat. This epic game offers the most detailed look at the period when the English, French, and Spanish Empires left North America and the United States rose. With fifteen scenarios in the base game and another thirteen available on boardgamegeek, it offers great value for your gaming dollar. The components include two 22 X 34 - inch maps, four and a half 5/8” countersheets, one rulebook, one scenario book, and multiple reference cards. The time scale is 2 months per turn, the map scale is 20 miles per hex, and unit sizes vary, mostly regiments and fleets. It's for two players, and playing time ranges from three to eighteen hours depending on the scenario. Designed by William M. Marsh, developed by Don Johnson, and with art by Brien Miller.

To start playing End of Empire, first set up the two 22 X 34 - inch maps on a flat surface. Place the counters from the four and a half countersheets according to the scenario you choose from the scenario book. The rulebook will guide you through all the game rules. Each turn represents two months, so plan your strategies accordingly. Remember, each year in the game has different turns for each season. When moving units, consider the natural and man - made features in each hex or town as they can affect movement and combat. Unit sizes vary, but most are regiments. Each step of a unit represents about 250 men. The game can take anywhere from three to eighteen hours, so make sure you have enough time. Keep the game components in a dry and cool place to prevent damage. If the counters get dirty, you can gently clean them with a soft cloth. That's it! Enjoy exploring the key historical conflicts in this engaging board game.
