Kodama Duo

Kodama Duo is an exciting card - placement game. It's a two - player standalone version of Kodama: The Tree Spirits and also serves as a 6 - player expansion. In just 30 minutes, you and a friend can start growing a tree by cleverly arranging branch cards to create a cozy home for your Kodama! Each season, turn over a Decree card to set unique conditions. During the Growing Phase, players take turns revealing branch cards. One player splits them into two piles, and the other chooses a pile. Add a branch card to your tree each turn. In the Kodama phase, pick a Kodama to score and live in your tree. The game lasts 3 seasons (12 turns), and the one who takes best care of their Kodama will be remembered for generations! There are cool twists in Duo. Instead of choosing from a display of branch cards, players split and select piles. Spirit tokens are also introduced, which interact with new Kodama and Decree cards, adding interesting scoring opportunities. With the 6 - player update, players secretly choose branch cards in a draft format and can place and score them simultaneously, reducing downtime.

To play Kodama Duo, first, gather 2 or up to 6 players. For the 2 - player mode, shuffle the branch and Decree cards. Each season, turn over a Decree card to set the rules. During the Growing Phase, one player reveals three branch cards and splits them into two piles. The other player then chooses a pile. Each player adds one branch card from their pile to their tree. The player with two cards discards one, and the other player gets a spirit token from the discarded card and places it on their tree. In the Kodama phase, pick a Kodama to score. The game runs for 3 seasons (12 turns), and the player who cares for their Kodama best wins. For the 6 - player mode, players secretly choose from four branch cards in a draft format and can place and score their cards at the same time. Remember to handle the cards gently to keep them in good condition. Store the game in a dry place to prevent damage to the cards and tokens.
