Description
In the near future, the world we once knew fades into an overgrown memory. But we've adapted, using whatever we can find to forge a new way of life. Life in Reterra is an exciting (re)building game where each player gets to create their own community. Start by choosing from three pre - made themed building sets or craft your own. Each set comes with five building cards and corresponding building tiles. Every player begins with one square land tile in play. This land tile is divided into a 2x2 grid, each space having one of five terrain types, and it might also hold a gear icon or one of four relic types. You'll have three land tiles in hand and five displayed face - up. On your turn, pick a land tile from your hand or the display and add it to your community, which can be up to four tiles on each side. If the tile has a gear, you can place an inhabitant from the reserve on it or add a building tile to your community, but every part of the building must be supported by gears on the same terrain type. Once you have a building in play, you gain the power of its card and can use it once per turn. You might place relic tokens for extra points, add more inhabitants, disrupt your opponent's relics, or score big for large terrain sections or more buildings than others. When everyone's community has sixteen tiles, it's time to score. You'll earn points for terrain blocks of at least seven spaces, surrounded energy sources, inhabitants, relics, and buildings.
Let's get started with Reterra! First, pick your building set. You can either choose one of the three ready - made themed sets or create your own. This gives you five building cards and their associated tiles. At the start, you have one land tile in play and three in your hand, with five more face - up on the table. On your turn, look at your hand or the face - up tiles and choose one to add to your community. Make sure your community doesn't get bigger than four tiles on each side. If the tile you place has a gear, you have two options. You can put an inhabitant from the reserve on the gear or place a building tile in your community. Just remember, all parts of the building need to be supported by gears on the same type of terrain. Once you've got a building in play, use its special power each turn to gain an edge. Maybe it's placing relic tokens for points or causing trouble for your opponents. When your community reaches sixteen tiles, it's scoring time. Look for large terrain blocks, surrounded energy sources, inhabitants, relics, and buildings to earn points. As for maintenance, keep your tiles organized and clean. Avoid bending or damaging them, and store them in a cool, dry place when not in use. Have fun playing!
